Bible in 90 Days- A New Beginning
For several years now, I've read through the Bible in 90 Days with Amy at Mom's Toolbox. It's come to be something I look forward to every January and July. I've read through six times in the past three years. Kathryne has read through with me three times.
Amy decided at the end of last year that she was no longer going to continue to host a large Bible in 90 days group through her blog. She is stepping down and instead providing resources and support for many to host their own Bible in 90 days. I had read that and really didn't intend to attempt to host a group. I haven't had much success in encouraging people to begin reading, and in my mentor groups (I've mentored four times), I often lose readers throughout the reading time.
But, when January came yesterday and I thought about not having a Bible in 90 days group, I was sad. This has come to be very important to me and very encouraging. I wrote a post last fall that described why I have been so blessed by reading through the Bible in 90 days.
So, I'm going to host a group here on my blog. We will begin reading on Monday, January 7. You can choose to read through the Bible chronologically or in the typical order. I'm not at all sure if I will have any readers, but I know that Kathryne and I are reading again. It surely does help to have someone reading along with you!
I know that many people see "through the Bible in 90 days" and immediately feel overwhelmed. The average day's reading is 16 or so chapters. Depending on your reading speed, it takes 30 minutes to an hour. If that seems like a lot, think about how much time you spend a day reading blogs, or browsing Facebook, or looking through Pinterest, or watching tv. I know I can make time for all those things most days.
If you've never read all the way through the Bible, consider it. There is a blessing in seeing how God's Word fits together. There is a blessing in reading the words of God. Even when you sit down for the day's reading out of duty- "I just have to make it through this program."- there is often something that stands out and touches your heart.
If you would like to read through the Bible with me (and with Kathryne), visit my Bible in 90 Days Facebook page to sign up. I will post tips, resources, and comments on the page as we read. We will also have a check in on the page every Monday.
I am very excited about beginning my read through again on Monday!
